我们在学习汉语写作时，老师告诉我们语言表达是评估好作文的主要标志.要做到准确、连贯、得体。语言要注意形象性.有感染力。议论文的语言要注意严谨.有气势。恰如其分地使用成语、谚语.适当地运用一些修辞手法。就能为语言增光添色，从而使文章更有文采。
但是这些都是对用母语进行写作的学生提出的要求。英语中虽然也有类似汉语的成语，但其中很多都相当古老。A friend in need is a friend indeed. Abird in the hand is worth two in the bush.这些都是中国学生很早就学过的谚语.但是现在英语写作中却少有人使用。
