　　The maps show Queen Mary Hospital at three different stages in its development: 1960, 1980and 2000.
　　In 1960, the hospital was build close to a main road and next to a shopping centre. A large area behind the hospital was turned into a car park, while the area behind the shopping centre was farmland.
　　By 1980,the shopping centre had been demolished in order to make way for two additional hospital building which became a pharmacy and a cancer centre. Furthermore, thehospital gained the farmland and converted into a nursing school.
　　In 2000, the mainhospital building remained unchanged but the cancer centre was extended to cover the entire nursing school. As a result of this, the original car park was divided into two so that it provided a smaller car park and a small nursing school.
　　During this period, the hospital had increased in size and, in addition to a new nursing school, a cancer centre has been created and extended. Hence the caPACity of the car park hasbeen reduced by a half.

　　As can be seen from the map, every part of the center had a regular form in the past. To be specific,entering the entrance from the north, cars directly went to the car park which covered the east part of the whole site. At the south-west corner, there lay a garden, occupying one third of the west area. The rest consisted of a café and two meeting rooms at the west, a gym, an IT room and an art room atthe east.
　　In stark contrast, at present, the community center has been changed substantially. The parking lot is extended westward, replacing the garden and part of the gym. The new one now occupies almost 75％of the whole site. Moreover, the café and part of the gym is altered into a reception. The IT room is expanded slightly,whereas the size of the art room is shrunk. only the meeting rooms remain unchanged.

People can also stop their cars in another parking lot between the library and the classroom building. The southern area of the campus was nearly fully covered by a playing field.
　　In 2012, when thenumber of students rose to2300, the old car park in the north area was reconstructed to a new one with semicircle shape and the library was changed into a computer room. To its east, where there was a small car park was replaced by trees and lawns. One storey was added to the original classroom building, and two new classroom blocks were constructed to itssouth and southwest direction. The west area of the playing field was used forbuilding swimming pool and fitness club, so the playground shrank significantly.
