　　You can express approval or disapproval of something or someone with verbs: approuver ‘to approve of’ , désapprouver ‘to disapprove of’ . Note that the French verbs are directly transitive, whereas the English verbs have an indirect object:
　　J’ai décidé de me mettre en disponibilité pendant un an et mes collègues m’approuvent.
　　I’ve decided to go on standby for a year and my colleagues approve of me.
　　(I’ve decided to take leave of absence for a year and my colleagues are in agreement.)
　　Vos professeurs désapprouvent votre comportement.
　　Your teachers disapprove of your behavior.
　　or the passive form can be used:
　　La décision a été approuvée par tous.
　　The decision has been approved by everyone.
　　Alternatively, être adjective or past participle à may be used:
　　Le directeur est favorable au redéploiement desressources que vous avez suggéré.
　　The manager is in agreement with the redeployment of resources that you have suggested.
　　Ton père et moi sommes entièrement opposés à cemarriage.
　　Your father and I are entirely opposed to this marriage.
　　Avoir features in a number of verb phrases which may be used, such as avoir bien fait de infinitive ‘to have done well to, done the right thing to’ , avoir raison de infinitive ‘to be right’ , avoir tort de infinitive ‘to be wrong’:
　　Vous avez bien fait de m’envoyer les documents avant de venir me voir.
　　You were right to send me the documents before coming to see me.
　　Il a raison de ne pas se laisser faire!
　　He’s right not to let himself be pushed around.
　　à mon avis, tu aurais tort de le quitter pour?a.
　　In my opinion, you would be wrong to leave him/ it for that.
　　NOTE: Expressing approval or disapproval is often an opportunity to give an opinion (à mon avis in the previous example) and is related to agreeing and disagreeing.
　　You can also use adverbial expressions introduced by prepositions such as à, avec:
　　Vous vous êtes plaint à juste titre auprès devos supérieurs.
　　You were right to complain to your superiors.
　　Il a évité avec raison de parler de ses précédents accidents de voiture.
　　He was right not to speak about his previous car accidents.
　　and there is a variety of other ways of expressing approval and disapproval:
　　Tu pars en vacances? Très bien, il était grand temps que tu penses un peu à toi!
　　You’re going on holiday? Very good. It’s time you thought about yourself a bit.
　　Je n’aime pas la fa?on dont vous organisez ces reunions.
　　I don’t like the way in which you organize these meetings.
　　Je ne comprends pas comment il a pu faire une chose pareille!
　　I don’t understand how he could do such a thing.
