  11月19日雅思作文真题解析

  【TASK 2】

Some people think job satisfaction is more important than job security. Other people think one should find a permanent job. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

  环球雅思培训小编认为这道题目太有爱了,直接用“拼凑法”(又名“移花接木”“乾坤大挪移”)。废话少说,上范文:

  【Model answer】

Some people prefer to spend their lives doing the same things and avoiding change. Others, however, think that change is always a good thing. Recently, there has arisen a heated debate over the relative importance of job satisfaction and job security, with some people claiming that job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing because most people spend a major part of their adult life at work while others contending that a permanent job contributes to job security.

Those who believe they can achieve some security by doing the same, familiar jobs are living in denial. Even when people believe they are resisting change themselves, they cannot stop the world around them from changing. Sooner or later they will find that the familiar jobs no longer exist, or that the ‘safe’ patterns of behavior are no longer appropriate. This is because the pace of change in the life of human beings has increased beyond our wildest expectation over the last half century. This has been driven by technology and scientific breakthroughs that are changing the whole way we view the world on an almost daily basis. This means that change, including that in the job market, is not always a personal option, but an inescapable fact of life, and we need to constantly adapt to keep pace with it.

By contrast, many employees change jobs frequently to get greater degree of job satisfaction, but they fail to realize that job hopping does not promise them with more job satisfaction. Firstly, when a person does not feel that they are doing valued work or there is no positive feedback from superiors in the new job, he or she might be discouraged and feel that the new job is not worth doing any more. Secondly, if job hopping does not improve or develop their skills, then there will be no sense of progression and purpose that rewards a worker. Besides, frequent job hoppers, more often than not, are lack of a sense of responsibility for and loyalty to a team, which means they always find it difficult to develop a strong sense of belonging to a team or a working community, making it difficult for them to enjoy their working lives.

Thus, it is too arbitrary to say whether it is good or bad to stick to a life long job. But personally, I think it would be better for employees if they could make adjustments in their career paths according to the social and economic conditions, for this would make it easier for them to adapt to the change which is unavoidable.(434 words)

However, reaching the conclusion that change is inevitable is not the same as assuming that ‘change is always for the better’. Unfortunately, it is not always the case that new things are promoted because they have good impacts for the majority of people. A lot of innovations are made with the aim of making money for a few. This is because it is the rich and powerful people in our society who are able to impose changes (such as in working conditions or property developments) that are in their own interests.

In conclusion, I would say that change can be stimulating and energizing for individuals when they pursue it themselves, but that all change, including that which is imposed on people, does not necessarily have good outcomes.(260 words)

As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing.

What factors contribute to job satisfaction?

How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers?

  Model answer

Nowadays many adults have full-time jobs and the proportion of their lives spent doing such jobs is very high. So feeling about one’s job must reflect how an individual feels about his or her life as a whole, and because of this, job satisfaction is indeed very important for the wellbeing of that person.

Employees get job satisfaction in a number of ways. Firstly, a person needs to feel that they are doing valued work, so positive feedback from superiors is very important in this respect. A sense of fulfillment is also encouraged if a worker feels the job is worth doing because it contributes to the society or the economy as a whole. Secondly, when someone feels they are improving or developing their skills through training opportunities, for example, then there is a sense of progression and purpose that rewards a worker. The sense of belonging to a team or a working community also contributes to job satisfaction because colleagues help each other to enjoy their working lives. Satisfaction is also increased by a sense of responsibility for and loyalty to a team.

Of course not everyone enjoys their work. Hard economic realities mean that many people have little choice in the kind of job they can get. In some cases an employee is working in a job that suits neither their skills nor their personality. Some jobs are repetitive and boring, and labor relations may be poor and lead to resentment and insecurity rather than to job satisfaction.

However, even though it is unlikely that all workers do feel happy in their work, I think it is not unrealistic to promote more job satisfaction in any job. If the factors identified above are implemented, then any job can be improved and more workers can feel greater degrees of job satisfaction.(302 words)
