　　In the picture, there are five men who are pushing blocks. Among them, four are working hard on square ones, and other one is working with ease on a round one. The men working on the round block is way ahead of the rest. Behind him there are some scrapes and a knife stuck into the ground. Obviously, he has cut his square block with the knife into what is now a ball.
　　The picture is trying to tell us that it is not enough to work hard. One needs to work smart. Many jobs do not just need strength and labor, but need ingenuity (独创性), too. Sheer investment of time and energy has become an outdated way of work. Actually, to accomplish a lot of work in a short time is the dream of humans from the very beginning. If we review the history of human civilization,we shall find that pursuit of efficiency is the driving force (推动力)behind many inventions. We’ve invented the wheel to travel faster. 　　In the set of picture above, suspecting (怀疑)the vegetables for sale aren’t green food, a woman turns her back on the seller; doubting the credibility of advice from a self-claimed expert dressed as a doctor, an old man turns away; a young man casts doubt on (怀疑)an officer who takes an oath of integrity. The underlying meaning of the drawings can be elaborated in terms of loss of trust among people.
　　There was a time when doors were left unlocked at night and no one pocketed anything found on the road. However, with the development of the society, people increasingly distrust each other. For example, fearing to be mistaken for offenders, few people would offer assistance to the aged people who fall down on the street because of seizures (突然发作)or injury. This crisis of trust in our society will bring many unfavorable consequences. First and foremost, people will be deprived of much fun since they become overcautious and feel insecure all the time. Besides, a lack of trust is detrimental to personal relationships since “ Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships. ” Last but not the least, people’s loss of trust in the government could intensify social contradictions.
